Prague 6/30/2010

More than 10,000 visitors took part in tours of the nonpublic area of the airport in just the first six months of this year. That's 3000 more than during the same period last year.

The largest flood of visitors to the airport came in May and June. The number of excursions has been increased to 4 per day. In addition to Czechs, several groups of visitors came from Germany, Great Britain, Slovenia, Slovakia and Denmark to see the airport. Volunteer firefighters from around the Czech Republic also took part.

People on the tour have a chance to see those parts of the airport ordinarily cordoned off from the public – including the airfield itself – along with the most modern Firefighting and Rescue Station in the Czech Republic, opened in 2006. Vehicle lovers will have a chance to enjoy the unique PANTHER ROSENBAUER fire engine. Jirina Hladova from the Holesovice section of Prague, on the tour with her daughter Lucie, became the 10,000th visitor to see the airport. “I'm taking the tour for the third time. I love the airport," said Hladova. She received a free voucher from the airport good for VIP check-in for two persons in the Citibank Lounge and Prague Airport promotional items.

The airport tours have been going on since summer of 2007 and will continue through the summer holidays this year, as well (including the national holiday on 7/5, when additional tour times for individuals are being made available). Anyone can make a reservation to take the tour at the Prague Airport website (www.prg.aero).
