Prague 20. 11. 2009
Large-scale photo portraits of celebrities in connection with people with disabilities can be seen on the 31 December at Prague Airport during the exhibition called Near Future by the non-profit organization, the Association for the integration of the mentally disabled (AIMD). Double portraits show what two different worlds have in common and seeks to unite them in theme or area of interest. Among the celebrities of the portraits is Václav Havel, Pavel Bém, Bořek Šípek, Tomáš Halík, and many other personalities.
The grand opening of the exhibition began yesterday at Prague Airport and portrays unusual double portraits of two celebrities in connection with people with disabilities on a mutual theme - common hobbies, interests, and work. Patrons of the exhibition were the Mayor of the City Prague Pavel Bém, EU Commissioner Vladimír Špidla, Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Michael Kocáb and the association ANO for Europe. Jiří Pos, Senior Director for Aviation commerce, operations and asset management of Prague Airport, welcomed the humanitarian impact of this cultural project which enchanted the airport premises and promotes the success of its future journey into the world.
The director of AIMD, Libuše Kaprálová said: “The idea to organize an exhibition in our airport as well as its name Near Future arose here in the premises of the airport because this place is characterized by great distances covered by airplanes. Our exhibition metaphorically covers distances on the human plane. The airport is then also the gate that opens the way abroad.”
The portraits can be seen at Prague Airport until the end of this year in the connecting area between Terminals 1 and 2 and next year the exhibition will travel to Czech centers abroad.
